I've known Rob for about 7 years now, and I feel like we've grown independently as artists, and stayed exactly the same as friends. We both exist in total different sides of our own niche industries, but I our goofy exchanges and obsession for delicious food and spicy memes knows no bounds.
I've ghost written for Rob quite a bit in the past, and we often borrow from the same harmonic language, but with fairly different rhythmic biases, so I thought it would be fun to include him on this project through a silly loophole.
The drums that you're hearing on this track were all played by me, then processed and converted into a sample pack by Rob (which should hopefully become commercially available pending his next big release), then programmed by Rob.
This tune, "Archipelago", was a piece I composed specifically for Rob about 4 years ago, but we never got around to recording. The Rhodes audio is actually me, but Rob transposed part of the bridge to make it more "mainstream", tracked some key bass, and then threw his own razzle-dazzle on the sound design for the piece.

If you're interested, I basically did the exact opposite with Rob for the first single of an upcoming lo-fi album I'm releasing under my lo-fi alias, Gohan Blanco (Rob's lo-fi alias is Shopan).
Rob tracked keys and I messed around with them and then added drums; this time making my own sample pack of sorts from audio of me playing a rickety drum kit at a friend's home studio.
